AT THE TIP
  • The Hawks set off for a pair of road trips this week, starting with a matchup at Davidson on Wednesday evening.
  • St. Joe's has won four-consecutive games, the third time this season with at least a four-game win streak.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Five Hawks finished with double-digits as the Saint Joseph's women's basketball team used a 26-point third quarter to fuel a 76-52 win over La Salle on Saturday afternoon inside Hagan Arena.
  • St. Joe's jumped out to a quick lead, doubling La Salle's points in the opening quarter before extending the advantage to 10 just 13 seconds into the second frame. The Explorers fought back with an 8-2 run into the break to cut the deficit to 31-27. The Hawks opened with the first eight points before a 16-0 run over a 3:30 span midway through the quarter closed the door on the Explorers to an eventural 76-52 victory.
  • Mackenzie Smith scored a team-high 22 points with just 12 field goal attempts. Laura Ziegler added 14 points and 13 rebounds for her 15th double-double of the season. Paula Maurina scored a season-high 14 points, while Aleah Snead and Gabby Casey each finished with 10 points.

HAWK NOTES
  • Laura Ziegler has scored 10+ points in 19 of her 20 games this season after a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double against La Salle.
  • Ziegler is second all-time in program history with 36 double-doubles in her career.  The junior ranks fifth in the country with 11.9 rebounds per game, while her 10.2 defensive boards per contest leads the NCAA.
  • Mackenzie Smith has registered 12 games this season with 15+ points after back-to-back 20+ point efforts last week.
  • Ziegler and Smith rank in the top 10 in scoring in the conference, Smith currently second in A-10 in three-point percentage (44.9%).
  • Aleah Snead matched season-highs with six boards and three steals while dishing a career-high five assists in the win vs. La Salle.
  • The Hawks are 13th as a team in assist/turnover ratio (1.35), leading the Atlantic 10. The 18.3 assists per game sits 19th-best in the country and is just behind Richmond's 18.7 assists.
  • St. Joe's shoots 37.1% from three on the season, ranking 12th in the NCAA.

MILESTONE MARKS
  • Ziegler recorded her 800th career rebound against La Salle, surpassing Stephanie Graff for sixth place in school history. The Herlev, Denmark native ranks ninth in career blocks (88) and 21st in scoring (1,152).
  • Paula Maurina posted one of her best performances in the Crimson and Gray in her 100th collegiate game against the Explorers with a season-high 14 points on 5-7 shooting, knocking down all four free throws. All three of her rebounds came on the offensive side of the glass, leading to seven points and scores on all three continued possessions
  • Mackenzie Smith is 21 rebounds shy of becoming the third player on the team to reach 500 career rebounds, Ziegler and Talya Brugler the 23rd and 24th players to achieve the feat on Hawk Hill.
  • Brugler is 25 points shy of entering top five in program history in scoring, while Mackenzie Smith ranks 10th in school history with 1,428 points.

SERIES REWIND
  • Saint Joseph's travels to Davidson to meet the Wildcats for the 14th time in series history on Wednesday evening.
  • St. Joe's is 12-1 all-time against Davidson, playing each other for the first time on November 29, 2008 at the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Tourney.
  • The Hawks have had five- and seven-game win streaks on either side of the lone loss suffered to the Wildcats in the 2020-21 season.
