AT THE TIP
  • The Hawks take a six-game win streak and a 2-0 start in conference play into the short road trip to La Salle on Sunday afternoon in the first of two matchups this season against the Explorers.
  • St. Joe's comes off a 61-55 win over #--/RV George Mason on the road, holding off a late comeback bid against the Patriots for the third win in the last four games in Fairfax.
  • The Hawks have won three-consecutive games by single-digits after the first eight victories came by way of double figures.

LAST TIME OUT
  • A matchup between two of the top Atlantic 10 teams entering conference play lived up to its billing as Saint Joseph's used a near-flawless effort from the free throw line to fend off a late comeback attempt by George Mason in a 61-55 win.
  • St. Joe's built a double-digit lead at the end of the opening quarter, extending it to as many as 14 in the opening 20 minutes to take a 33-22 advantage into the half. The Patriots brought the game within two points with 2:20 remaining in the fourth before the Hawks produced four-consecutive stops before closing out 9-10 from the free throw line to secure the sixth-straight victory and a 2-0 start in A-10 play.
  • Talya Brugler led the Hawks with 18 points, going 8-8 from the free throw line and 2-2 from distance. Laura Ziegler finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds for her 31st double-double of her career, while Mackenzie Smith ended with 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals.

HAWKS IN THE NCAA RANKS
  • Laura Ziegler sits third all-time with 31 career double-doubles, three shy of last year's output of 13 on the season. The junior ranks seventh in the country with 11.2 rebounds per game, leading the NCAA with 9.1 defensive rebounds per game.
  • Ziegler and Talya Brugler have scored double-digits in all 13 games on the year, Brugler registering 10+ points in her last 16 games dating back to last season.
  • The Hawks are 12th in the NCAA in assist/turnover ratio (1.40) and rank 18th in assists per game (18.6).
  • St. Joe's ranks third in the country in free throw percentage (81.2%) and eighth in three-point percentage (38.7%).
  • Mackenzie Smith enters the matchup with a 47.3% clip from three-pointers, ranking ninth in the country.
  • Only Creighton (81.8%) has had a better free throw percentage since the start of the 2023-24 season than Saint Joseph's (81.2%).

MILESTONE MARKS
  • Laura Ziegler recorded her 1,000th career point against VCU, becoming the 31st player in program history to reach 1,000 points. Ziegler became the fourth-fastest player (74) to the milestone, only Dale Hodges (53), Susan Moran (64) and Talya Brugler (72) reaching 1,000 points quicker than the Herlev, Denmark native.
  • Ziegler has also entered the top 10 in program history in rebounds with her 13 boards against Charleston, becoming the 10th Hawk to reach 700 rebounds with 708 in her career. Adashia Franklyn ranks ninth with 724 rebounds.
  • Ziegler also sits t-9th in blocks, joining Jessi Dunne and Kim Foley with 80 in her career.
  • Mackenzie Smith became the 12th player in program history with 100 starts in her career against VCU. Talya Brugler enters the La Salle game one start shy of becoming the 13th Hawk to reach a century of starts.
  • Talya Brugler is 57 points shy of entering top five in program history in scoring, while Mackenzie Smith needs 17 points to move into the top 10.

SERIES REWIND
  • St. Joe's and La Salle meet for the 70th time in the series on Sunday afternoon, the first time in the renovated John Glaser Arena on 20th and Olney.
  • Overall, the Hawks have a dominant 53-16 record in the rivalry, including a 29-9 advantage under Coach Griffin's tenure on Hawk Hill.
  • St. Joe's enters the road trip with a 23-9 record away from home, currently on a two-game win streak at La Salle after three-consecutive losses from the 2019-20 to the 2021-22 seasons.
