Late Mazzotta Stunner Gives Men’s Soccer 2-2 Draw at George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va.Matteo Mazzotta scored the equalizer in the 88th minute on Saturday night as the Saint Joseph's men's soccer team secured a late 2-2 draw at George Mason.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (6-6-4 overall, 3-2-3 Atlantic 10) ripped off the first seven shots of the game, finally hitting paydirt in the 32nd minute as Herman Tveit-Reffsgaard converted on a pass from Finn Murray for a 1-0 lead.
 
• The Patriots drew level two minutes later, however, after a VAR review upheld a goal by Kenzo Brito.
 
• George Mason (6-5-3 overall, 3-2-2 Atlantic 10) went ahead early in the second half as Jaime Godinho tallied in the 48th minute to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.
 
• The Hawks left it late, but Mazzotta beat Jaume Salvado high with just 2:03 on the clock to put SJU on level pegging and secure the point in the standings.
 
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Salvado made three saves for George Mason while Cooper Jennings made a pair of stops for Saint Joseph's.
 
• The Hawks enjoyed a 12-9 advantage in shots taken and earned six corner kicks to four for the Patriots.
 
• The goal for Mazzotta extended his team-leading total to six on the season, while the assist for Murray was his first collegiate point.
