PHILADELPHIADeuce Jones II led four Hawks in double figures with 24 points, but the Saint Joseph's men's basketball team fell in a tough battle with the Penn Quakers, 83-74

BY THE NUMBERS
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After Penn tied the game on a baseline jumper at the 14:48 mark, the Hawks went on a 6-0 run, keyed on the defensive end by two blocks from Ajogbor as SJU took a 16-10 lead in just 75 seconds.
  • Continuing as a back-and-forth affair, the first half featured 11 ties and nine lead changes. The Quakers used a 6-0 run to take a 37-33 lead. St. Joe's followed with an 8-2 spurt of its own to go up 41-39 with 1:35 to go before Penn made a layup at the buzzer, knotting the game at halftime.
  • Glover-Toscano heated up as the second half started, scoring the first seven points for the Hawks. With the Quakers holding a 62-56 lead midway through the half, SJU cut the gap to one on a fast break dunk by Dasear Haskins. On the subsequent possession, Penn went 1-for-2 at the line. Jones took the ball at midcourt and knifed through the defense for a driving layup, once again tying the game.
  • St. Joe's took the lead on a Simpson three-pointer with 6:15 remaining, but Penn was able to close the game at the free throw line, hitting all six of its attempts in the final six minutes.
