PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's women's basketball team put together a dominant, wire-to-wire performance on Saturday afternoon as 13 players entered the scoring column in a 100-40 victory over Le Moyne inside Hagan Arena.
FIRST QUARTER
- Jill Jekot assisted on a Gabby Casey 3-pointer 11 seconds into the game before knocking down one of her own, helping propel Saint Joseph's to the first 20 points of the contest.
- After a pair of Le Moyne free throws, Kaylie Griffin scored eight of the next 11 points to set a new career high and push the lead to 31-2.
- Casey added the final basket of the quarter as the Hawks held the Dolphins without a field goal over the opening 10 minutes, taking a 33-3 advantage.
SECOND QUARTER
- Le Moyne opened the second quarter with a 7-2 run before baskets from Stinson and Kaylinn Bethea disrupted the slow start.
- An eight-point spurt in under two minutes gave the Hawks a 34-point lead with 2:19 remaining in the half.
- Casey's 3-pointer with under a minute to play gave St. Joe's a 50-15 lead headed into halftime.
THIRD QUARTER
- The teams traded the first eight baskets before Saint Joseph's extended the lead to 60-22 as Stinson converted a three-point play through contact.
- Cecilia Kay scored on back-to-back possessions late in the frame to increase the advantage to 42 points.
- Meja Jägerskog became the 10th Hawk to enter the scoring column after grabbing an offensive rebound and finishing inside, helping Saint Joseph's take a 73-29 lead into the final quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Emirson Devenie scored six of the Hawks' 12 points during a 12-2 spurt, capped by a steal and score from Emily Knouse to give Saint Joseph's an 85-37 lead.
- The Hawks closed the game on a 13-0 run, sparked by a 3-pointer from Bethea. Baskets by Jägerskog and Devenie pushed the score to 95-40 before a steal and layup from Lauren Greer and an and-one from Olivia Lutterodt lifted the Hawks to the century mark for a 100-40 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Thirteen Hawks scored, while 10 players recorded at least one assist. Faith Stinson led all scorers with 18 points while adding seven rebounds and two blocks. She finished 7-for-10 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from inside the arc.
- Gabby Casey posted her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The junior added six assists and three steals while posting a +48 plus-minus in 24 minutes.
- Kaylie Griffin reached double figures for the first time in her career, scoring a career-high 11 points. Griffin added three assists while knocking down three of her six 3-point attempts.
- Cecilia Kay became the fourth Hawk in double figures, finishing with 10 points.
- Emirson Devenie and Jill Jekot each scored nine points, while Emily Knouse recorded a career-high four assists.
- The Hawks recorded their 13th 100-point game in program history and have now reached the century mark in back-to-back seasons. It marked just the third time during head coach Cindy Griffin's tenure that the Hawks have scored in triple digits.
- The Hawks' 33 first-quarter points are tied for the second most in a quarter since the switch to a four-quarter format prior to the 2015-16 season. The three points allowed are tied for the fifth fewest surrendered in a quarter during that span.
- The 60-point margin of victory ranks sixth in program history. The school record was set last season in a 102-30 win over Goldey-Beacom.
- St. Joe's assisted on 31 of its 38 made field goals, tying for the second most in program history and finishing one assist shy of the school record set against Fordham on Dec. 29, 1992.
- Another school record fell Saturday as the Hawks made 16 3-pointers, shooting 41.0 percent from beyond the arc. The Hawks also matched the school record set earlier this season with 39 3-point attempts.
- Saint Joseph's held a 44-18 rebounding advantage over Le Moyne. The 18 rebounds are tied for the sixth fewest by an opponent since 1981-82.
- The Hawks set season highs in paint points (42), second-chance points (22) and bench points (49).
- SJU has won its last 25 games when four players score in double figures and has also captured its last 21 contests decided by at least 20 points.
