HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a slow start for the Hawks who trailed 7-4 at the 14:55 mark of the first half. SJU found its rhythm on a defensive stop that led to a dunk by Haskins ahead of the pack. That bucket ignited a 14-1 run in the next four minutes as SJU opened an 18-8 advantage.
- Coppin State battled back, but Saint Joseph's saved its best for the end of the stanza, ending on a 9-2 run and taking a 43-26 lead into the locker room.
- Early in the second, the Hawks continued to extend the lead, pushing the advantage to 23 points on a pair of occasions. From there, Saint Joseph's maintained at least a 20-point lead through the final 14 minutes of action.
