CHICAGO – The Saint Joseph's softball team wrapped its weekend with a 7-1 setback against the Loyola Chicago Ramblers on Saturday morning.
 
BY THE NUMBERS

• Hailey Malito went 1-for-2, extending her hitting streak to eight games. She went 4-for-7 in the series with five RBI and reached base seven times.
• Sarah Cancila, Jenna Currie, Riley York and Morgan Lester each had a hit for SJU.
• Taylor Trowbridge did not allow a run in an inning of relief, striking out one, giving her eight scoreless innings with eight punchouts in the series.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Trailing 1-0, the Hawks tied it in the fourth. Riley York singled to lead off the inning. Two batters later, Jenna Currie doubled, moving York to third. She stood there when on ball four to Sierra Fretz, the pitch got away from the catcher, allowing York to score on a passed ball.
• Loyola took the lead back in the bottom of the fourth with three runs.
• The Ramblers added three runs in the fifth to create the final score.

 
UP NEXT
The Hawks return home for a midweek matchup against the Monmouth Hawks on Wednesday, March 26. First pitch from the SJU Softball Field is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
