AT THE TIP
  • The Hawks face #5 Rhode Island to open their Atlantic 10 Tournament in the quarterfinals.
  • For the second-consecutive season, the championship is being held at the Henrico Sports & Events Center in Glen Allen, Va.
  • The Hawks are 52-38 all-time in the A-10 Tournament, including a 3-3 record as the no. 4 seed.
  • The last time the Hawks entered as the fourth seed was in 2012-13, St. Joe's winning all three games to be crowned Atlantic 10 champions.

LAST TIME OUT
  • The Saint Joseph's women's basketball team overcame a double-digit deficit, but the Senior Day comeback fell short in a 73-65 defeat to Richmond on Saturday afternoon inside Hagan Arena.
  • The Spiders opened entered the second quarter with a six-point lead, growing it to as many as 14 in the first half before the Hawks trimmed the deficit to 38-28 headed into the break. The Hawks mounted a comeback to level the game early in the fourth quarter, but the Spiders outscored the Hawks 20-12 over the final six minutes to prevail for their 16th-consecutive win.
  • Saint Joseph's was led by Laura Ziegler with a game-high 21 points as the junior recorded her 18th double-double of the season as she also added 10 rebounds. Mackenzie Smith finished with 10 points, while Talya Brugler had eight points and 11 rebounds.

POSTSEASON ACCOLADES
  • Aleah Snead earned her first superlative award this week when the conference announced the sophomore as Atlantic 10 Sixth Woman of the Year.
  • Laura Ziegler and Mackenzie Smith were named to First Team All-Atlantic 10 selections, while Talya Brugler earned a spot to the Third Team. Ziegler was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team.
  • Ziegler was named a finalist to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award, one of five players in the country named to the final list.

HAWK NOTES
  • Laura Ziegler has scored 10+ points in 27 of 29 games this season. The junior is second all-time in program history with 39 double-doubles in her career. Currently, Ziegler ranks 11th in the country with 10.8 rebounds per game, while her 9.1 defensive boards per contest is second in the NCAA.
  • Mackenzie Smith has registered 15 games this season with 15+ points, leading the conference in three point shooting at 43.4 percent (min. 2 made per game).
  • Ziegler (18.1) and Smith (14.4) rank in the top 10 in scoring in the conference. Ziegler also ranks first in rebounding and is fourth in assists per game (4.1).
  • The Hawks are 18th in the NCAA as a team in assist/turnover ratio (1.30) and 21st with 17.6 assists per game.
  • St. Joe's enters allowing opponents to just 56.7 points per game, leading the conference and ranking 29th in the country.

MILESTONE MARKS
  • Laura Ziegler ranks fifth all-time in program history with 876 career rebounds and is sixth with 97 career blocks. Ziegler's 1,333 points ranks 13th in school history.
  • Mackenzie Smith became the third Hawk on the roster to record 500 career rebounds at Rhode Island, joining Talya Brugler and Ziegler. Smith's 117 career starts put her in fifth all-time in program history as the senior entered into the top five for most appearances (124) for St. Joe's against Richmond.
  • Brugler surpassed Katie Curry for fourth in scoring in program history and is just nine points shy from Teresa Carmichael in third place. Mackenzie Smith ranks seventh in school history with 1,547 career points.
  • Julia Nyström is two games shy of playing in 100 games in her career.
