The Saint Joseph's men's rowing team had a strong showing at the Schuylkill Invitational on Saturday as the Hawks raced their top three Varsity 8 boats against some of the top teams in the region.

How It Happened
• The Hawks' Varsity 8 posted a victory in the morning as it won by nearly nine seconds in a time of 5:31.10.
• In the morning's 2nd Varsity 8 matchup, St. Joe's placed second as the Hawks completed the course in 5:44.78.
• Saint Joseph's 3rd Varsity 8 capped the morning with a second place finish in a time of 5:57.19.
• In the afternoon, all three of St. Joe's boats battled throughout the course, with each placing third in their respective races.

Coach's Corner
"It was great to get two sets of really competitive match-ups completed this weekend! The weather reports were touch-and-go early in the week, but the heavier rains held off and the winds were hitting from the right direction. We were co-hosts of a 12-team event that featured schools from the Dad Vail, the EARC Sprints, and the new MPSF League on the west coast," said head coach Mike Irwin. "This was a great way for the Hawks to get a measure of our training so far and to learn where we need to focus preparing for the month of May. We look forward to going right back to the line next weekend at the Kerr Cup!"
