Softball Walks Off Game Two to Earn Split with Fordham

PHILADELPHIAJenna Currie came up with a walkoff double in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Saint Joseph's softball team won game two of a doubleheader against the Fordham Rams, 6-5 on Wednesday afternoon. The Rams took game one by a 3-1 final.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Kasi Loser had four hits in the doubleheader with two RBI.
  • Jenna Currie totaled three hits and three RBI in the twinbill.
  • Jules Scogna and Jenna Wagner each did not allow an earned run during multiple innings of work.
  • It was the fifth walkoff win in Atlantic 10 play for SJU.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME ONE
  • Fordham cracked the scoreboard first with a trio of unearned runs in the third.
  • The Hawks looked to rally in the seventh as Riley York led off with a double and came around to score on an RBI two-bagger from Loser.
  • Scogna and Wagner did not allow an earned run in the contest. Wagner tossed three scoreless innings, surrendering just two hits and struck out three.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME TWO
  • Trailing in the second, SJU got on the board as Meghan Sinkus led off with a single and stole second before Currie drove her home with a single to right.
  • Two batters later, Loser delivered her second run-scoring hit of the day, plating Currie. On the play, Loser moved to third and came in to score on a wild pitch, cutting the game to 4-3.
  • The Rams tacked on a run in the top of the fourth, but St. Joe's got it back in the fifth when Sarah Cancila was hit by a pitch, moved to second on a groundout and scored on a single from Fretz.
  • Sain Joseph's was behind 5-4 and down to its last out with York on first, Sinkus singled. Currie came up next and ended the game with a double to left center, plating both runs for the win.
 
UP NEXT
The Hawks travel to Northern Virginia for a weekend series against George Mason. First pitch on Saturday, April 12 is scheduled for noon.
