PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team battled to the final whistle, but were upended by a second half goal, 1-0 by the St. John's Red Storm on Sunday afternoon.
BY THE NUMBERS
- St. Joe's generated the better of play in the second half with 12 shots in the period and 17 overall for the game.
- Emily Hanrahan topped the team with shots.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams were very even through the open 15 minutes as both teams had attacking chances, but the majority of the action was played in the midfield.
- After a scoreless first half, St. Joe's pushed the offense in the early moments of the second stanza, generating three shots in the opening 10 minutes of the frame.
- Despite the continuing SJU pressure, the Red Storm claimed the only goal of the contest on a counterattack in the 66th minute.
