Women's Soccer Scores Twice in Second Half for Thrilling Comeback Win

PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team scored a pair of second half goals, including the game-winner in the 74th minute as the Hawks downed the Towson Tigers 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • With the match even at 2-2 in the 74th minute, St. Joe's moved the ball down the right side. Fisher sent a ball centrally that eluded a handful of defenders. Hanrahan was on the connecting side of it and took a left-footed shot that squeezed past the Towson keeper on the near post for the eventual game-winning goal.
  • Early in the match, Saint Joseph's earned a penalty thanks to Hanrahan not giving up on a play and forcing a foul by the Tigers in the box. Anderson stepped up and drove the ball past the keeper for a 1-0 SJU lead.
  • 22 seconds later, the Hawks gave the goal back, surrendering a successful PK attempt to Towson.
  • The Tigers got a second goal, this one coming early in the 35th minute on a well-placed cross from the right side to the far post.
  • St. Joe's came out on the offensive attack in the second half and broke through in the 55th minute. Fisher tapped the ball ahead to Leal who touched it perfectly to Vicari. Her right footed attempt beat the keeper, who had come off her line, knotting the contest at 2-2.
