#15 Field Hockey Falls at Villanova, 2-1

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's field hockey team fell to Villanova by a 2-1 score on Sunday afternoon at The Proving Grounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After an even first quarter, Villanova (3-6) controlled the run of play through the second and the Wildcats cashed in with the game's first goal as Colleen Finnan's crossing pass deflected off a Hawk stick and into the cage.

• Saint Joseph's (6-4) bounced back in the third as Ava Smith converted on a give-and-go with Erika Culp for an equalizer, but the Wildcats answered four and a half minutes later as Finnan set up Erin Mitchell to regain the lead.

• The Hawks would go on to outshoot the Wildcats 18-2 in the second half and earn 12 penalty corners, but Villanova's Sophie Volkel made five saves in the fourth quarter to cement the victory.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Volkel finished the day with eight saves, while Paige Kieft made two for the Hawks.

• Saint Joseph's ended the game with a 22-11 edge in shots and a 16-4 advantage in corners.
