WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team took to the courts with the best of the best on Sunday morning, ultimately falling to top-ranked Wake Forest by a 7-0 score.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The defending national champions took the early lead with wins in the first and third doubles flights.
Damir Abdusamadov and
Santiago Valle were locked in a tight match in the second flight when play was halted.
• The Demon Deacons finished off the victory with a sweep of the six singles flights.
HAWK TALK
"First off, credit to Wake Forest; they are the number-one team for a reason," head coach
Jeff Puhan said. "What a great experience for our team; I'm so proud of our guys and credit to them for fighting and competing until the end. The guys learned a lot and we will build on this going into next weekend when we head to Stillwater to face Oral Roberts, UTGRV, and Oklahoma State."
