STILLWATER, Okla. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team earned a win over the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Saturday morning before falling to Oklahoma State later in the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Vaqueros took the early lead with wins in the first and third doubles flights to claim the doubles point.
 
• Damir Abdusamadov got the Hawks on the board in the third flight with a 6-3, 6-3 victory before Ernesto Ruy rolled to a 6-4, 6-3 win in the fourth to put SJU on top.
 
• UTRGV tied things up but Santiago Valle outlasted his opponent in the second flight in a three-set win to put the Hawks on the edge of victory; Jakob Gaudreau Barnes then pushed it over the line with a three-set victory of his own.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The host Cowboys won the doubles point, finishing off wins in the second and third flights.
 
• OSU earned the overall sweep with wins in all six singles flights as well.

"This afternoon the Hawks came to play," Puhan said.  "I'm really proud of how they competed to very end.  We battled them, and even though we were shorthanded, everyone stepped up.  We will keep building on this and growing with every match."
