STILLWATER, Okla. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team earned a win over the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Saturday morning before falling to Oklahoma State later in the day.
 
MATCH 1: Saint Joseph's 4, UTRGV 3
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Vaqueros took the early lead with wins in the first and third doubles flights to claim the doubles point.
 
• Damir Abdusamadov got the Hawks on the board in the third flight with a 6-3, 6-3 victory before Ernesto Ruy rolled to a 6-4, 6-3 win in the fourth to put SJU on top.
 
• UTRGV tied things up but Santiago Valle outlasted his opponent in the second flight in a three-set win to put the Hawks on the edge of victory; Jakob Gaudreau Barnes then pushed it over the line with a three-set victory of his own.
 
MATCH 2: Oklahoma State 7, Saint Joseph's 0
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The host Cowboys won the doubles point, finishing off wins in the second and third flights.
 
• OSU earned the overall sweep with wins in all six singles flights as well.
 
UP NEXT
The Hawks will visit Drexel next Saturday, January 24.
