WASHINGTON – Saint Joseph's freshman Jakob Gaudreau Barnes was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday morning.
 
Gaudreau Barnes earned a pair of singles wins over the weekend.  On Friday, he rolled past Lucas Couy of Oral Roberts in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, in the sixth flight as the Hawks fell in a 4-3 decision.
 
On Saturday, the Verdun, Quebec native secured the clinching point as SJU defeated UTRGV, 4-3.  Gaudreau Barnes took down Loic Young, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-1 in the fifth flight to push the Hawks over the line against the Vaqueros.
 
The Hawks are back in action at Drexel on Saturday.
