Women’s Lacrosse Picked Second in Coaches Poll; Capozzoli, Fowler Selected Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Saint Joseph's attacker Alexa Capozzoli and defender Claire Fowler were named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Team, as announced by the conference office Friday afternoon. The Hawks were also picked to finish second in the A-10 Preseason Poll, earning one first-place vote, as voted on by the league's 10 head coaches.

A First Team All-Conference selection in 2025, Capozzoli enters the 2026 season with her first preseason honor of her career. The senior led the Atlantic 10 with 57 assists last season, finishing 17 ahead of the next closest player. Capozzoli ranks second on Saint Joseph's all-time assists leaderboard, entering the season eight assists shy of the program record set by Stephanie Kelly in 2021. The Ridley Park, Pa. native also ranks seventh in career points (179) and shares the program's single-game assist record with eight.

Following an impressive rookie campaign in 2025, Fowler also earned her first preseason accolade with her selection to the All-Conference Team. The defender started all 19 games during her freshman season, recording 11 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls. Eight of her caused turnovers came against conference opponents. Fowler, a Landenberg, Pa. native, also contributed offensively, scoring her first collegiate goal in a win over VCU.

Saint Joseph's is coming off a historic 2025 campaign in which it finished second in the Atlantic 10 standings, the highest regular-season finish in program history. The Hawks set a school record with nine conference wins and advanced to the Atlantic 10 Championship game.

The Hawks open the 2026 season on Friday, Feb. 6, with a road contest at Lehigh.
