Box Score DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Saint Joseph's women's basketball team's five-game win streak came to an end on Wednesday evening, falling to Davidson, 48-36, inside Belk Arena.
FIRST QUARTER
- Gabby Casey opened the game up with two quick baskets to help Saint Joseph's (11-4, 2-2 A-10) take a 4-0 lead.
- A quick 4-0 spurt from the host Wildcats leveled the game before Emily Knouse traded baskets with Edina Strausz as the teams took a 6-6 tie into the media timeout.
- Davidson (12-5, 4-0 A-10) finished a 6-0 run to take a 10-6 lead, but a 4-0 spurt from SJU over the final 1:59 tied the game at 10-10 at the end of the first quarter.
SECOND QUARTER
- Despite a five-minute drought to start the quarter, the Hawks' defense held strong as Casey's basket cut the deficit to 14-12.
- The offense went just 1-for-10 from the floor with seven turnovers in the period as Davidson took a 19-12 advantage into the half.
THIRD QUARTER
- St. Joe's opened the second half with a 7-0 run after Aleah Snead found a mismatch under the basket to tie the game at 19-19 and force a Davidson timeout.
- Out of the timeout, the Wildcats responded with an 11-0 run over a 2:37 span to push the lead to 30-19. Davidson extended the advantage to 13 ahead of the final period.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Davidson opened the quarter with the first four points to build a 17-point lead.
- The Hawks outscored the Wildcats 14-13 in the fourth quarter, but Davidson claimed the 48-36 victory to snap St. Joe's win streak.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Gabby Casey led all scorers with 19 points. The junior added a team-high eight rebounds and set a career high with five steals.
- St. Joe's finished 14-for-45 from the field for 31.1 percent. Davidson shot 18-for-51 (35.3%) from the floor.
- Davidson won the battle on the glass with a 39-33 advantage, using 10 offensive rebounds to post a 12-0 margin in second chance points. The Wildcats also posted an 18-5 advantage in points off turnovers.
