SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A trio of early runs helped Sacramento State hold off the Saint Joseph's baseball team, 4-2, at John Smith Field on Saturday.

Â
• The Hawks got closer in the seventh on a solo home run by
Richard Beggy, but the Hornets got the run back in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Brett Ott.
Â
• The Hawks brought the tying run to the plate in the top of the ninth but could not push across a run.
Â
