MERION STATION, Pa. - A late comeback from the Saint Joseph's softball came up short as the Hawks fell to the Rider Broncs, 8-3 on Wednesday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS

• Hailey Peterson, Alivia Heers, and Lauren Stalica each had a hit and an RBI.
• Stalica tossed three innings without allowing an earned run.
• Ava Farina went 1-for-3 with a run scored and also pitched two scoreless innings in the circle.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Rider scored all of its runs in the first three innings.
• St. Joe's cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the third. Gianna Muhaw led off with a single. Peterson came up two batters later and doubled down the right field line to plate Muhaw. Stalica followed with a single to bring home Peterson.
• In the seventh, Farina singled, followed by a walk by Muhaw. Heers came to the plate and singled to left, scoring Farina.

The Hawks head to the Midwest for an A-10 series at Saint Louis. First pitch of Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00 EDT.
