ST. LOUIS – The Saint Joseph's softball team opened its three-game series at Saint Louis with a 13-1 victory on Friday evening.

Julia Shearer picked up the complete game victory as she allowed just one run on four hits, while striking out seven.
At the plate, Shearer was 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored.
Riley York went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run.
Meghan Sinkus was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Grace Brown scored on an RBI groundout by
Julia Shearer to make it 1-0 in the top of the first.
Sinkus tripled later in the first to score York to extend the Hawks' lead to 2-0.
Saint Louis cut the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom of the first as Abby Ulsas scored on a wild pitch.
St. Joe's answered with a five-run second to open a 7-1 advantage.
An RBI single by Brown opened the scoring as
Morgan Lester scored the first run of the inning.
Shearer connected with a three-run double, and came around to score on an RBI single by Sinkus.
A two-run home run by York extended the lead to 9-1 in the top of the seventh.
