MEDFORD, N.J. -
Derek Simpson of the Saint Joseph's men's basketball team has been named the Albert Carino Boys Basketball Club of South Jersey Major Player of the Year as announced by the organization.
Simpson is one of eight players nationally to average at least 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game this season. He has four double-doubles and has scored in double figures in 22 games this season, including 15 in a row, and has topped the 20 point mark six times. His 6.2 assists per game in conference play lead the A-10 and he tops the conference and is 11th nationally free threow percentage at 90.8.
The Mount Laurel, N.J. native will be honored in a ceremony on April 1.
