Baseball Blanks Bucknell, 2-0

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's baseball team opened its weekend with a 2-0 win over Bucknell at Depew Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (4-7) broke through in the top of the fourth as Blake Primrose hit a one-out triple and came in to score on an infield single by Joey Pagano.

• Bucknell (3-8) put runners on in the fifth and seventh, but it was the Hawks that struck next in the top of the eighth.  Joey Gale reached on a two-out single before Alex Kelsey followed with a triple to score Gale and double the lead.

• Christian Coppola and Andrew Gaines proceeded to send the Bison down in order in the final two innings to secure the win for the Hawks.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Duke McCarron got the start for the Hawks and turned in five strong innings, allowing two hits while striking out seven, to earn his first win in Crimson and Gray.  Jonathan Adelmann was the hard-luck loser for Bucknell, allowing a run on four hits in seven innings.

• Coppola faced the minimum nine batters in three shutout innings while fanning six of them, while Gaines notched his first save as a Hawk with two strikeouts in a perfect ninth inning.
