PHILADELPHIA — Saint Joseph's women's basketball has announced the signing of transfer forward Deja Evans, head coach Cindy Griffin announced on Tuesday. Evans joins the Hawks after spending the last two seasons at Drexel and her freshman campaign at UAlbany.

"We are excited to welcome Deja and the Evans family to Hawk Hill," said Coach Griffin. "First and foremost, Deja is an outstanding person and player who brings significant frontcourt experience on both ends of the floor. Her ability to score, rebound and protect the rim will elevate our program and position us to compete for an Atlantic 10 championship."

Evans brings a strong defensive presence to Hawk Hill after starting 56 of 57 games across two seasons at Drexel. She earned Colonial Athletic Association All-Defensive Team honors in 2024-25 after recording 66 blocked shots and totaled 104 blocks during her time with the Dragons, ranking among the conference leaders. Evans recorded six double-doubles at Drexel, including a standout performance against Temple in 2024-25, when she finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and nine blocks to tie the program's single-game record. She registered three or more blocks in 18 contests and totaled 557 points and 360 rebounds over two seasons.

Prior to Drexel, Evans competed at UAlbany during the 2023-24 season, where she started all 29 games for the Great Danes. She averaged 8.1 points and 7.1 rebounds in 22.8 minutes per game while earning America East All-Conference Third Team, All-Defensive Team, and All-Rookie Team honors. Evans scored a career-high 26 points against Navy on Dec. 30.

A two-year letterwinner at Archbishop Wood, Evans helped lead the Vikings to back-to-back PIAA 4A championships, including a stretch of five consecutive double-doubles during the title run.
