FAIRFAX, Va. – The Saint Joseph's Varsity 8 captured gold as the Hawks competed at the George Mason Invitational on Sunday.

How It Happened
• The Saint Joseph's Varsity 8 opened the morning with a strong finish in its heat as the Hawks crossed the finish line in 7:33.8 to advance as the top seed in the afternoon's Grand Final.
• St. Joe's Varsity 8 capped a dominant day as it captured gold in the Grand Final with a time of 8:07.4, more than 15 seconds ahead of second place.
• The Hawks' Second Varsity 8 posted a time of 8:36.0 in its heat, qualifying for the Petite Final.
• Saint Joseph's Second Varsity 8 placed first in the Petite Final, while also posting the second-best time in both Second Varsity finals, as the Hawks crossed the finish line in 8:48.8.
• Competing in only the Petite Final, St. Joe's Varsity 4 easily took first in a time of 9:14.6, the fastest in both Varsity 4 finals.
