SAINT LOUIS – The Saint Joseph's softball team showed grit, tying the game in the middle innings, but the Hawks fell to the fourth-seeded Fordham Rams, 7-3 in the opening game of the Atlantic 10 Championship on Wednesday afternoon.

- Alivia Heers reached base all three times she was up on a homer and two walks.
- Grace Brown clocked her team-leading fourth long ball of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a rough start for the Hawks, who found themselves down 3-0 after two innings.
- Opening the third, Brown gave SJU a jolt with her fourth homer of the season, leading off the frame. Coming up next, Meghan Sinkus singled and caught Fordham napping, advancing to second. After a line out, Sinkus stole third and came home to score on a single from Loser.
- St. Joe's got right back to it in the fourth as Heers led off the frame with her third long ball of the year, tying the contest at 3-3.
- Still tied heading into the fifth, the Rams took the lead back on a three-run homer and added one more in the sixth.
