Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A goal in the first quarter and two more in the fourth powered the Saint Joseph's field hockey team to a 3-0 win over Lehigh at Ulrich Field on Friday.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (2-3) controlled much of the first quarter, ripping off eight shots. With less than a minute to go,
Cat Arentz put the Hawks on the board on an assist from
Erika Culp for a 1-0 lead.
Â
• Neither team found the cage in the second or third quarters, but the Hawks kept up the offensive pressure, outshooting the hosts 11-1 over the middle 30 minutes.
Â
• Midway through the fourth,
Milou Kluyt converted a penalty corner on assists from
Alison Buffington and
Monica Piccioli to double the lead.
Â
• Lehigh (1-3) would pull its goalkeeper in favor of an extra attacker, but it was the Hawks that turned it into a goal as Buffington dribbled around traffic before finding
Kiki Bruning in front for her first goal as a Hawk.
Â

• Saint Joseph's held a 23-3 advantage in shots on the day, with the Hawks also earning five corners while only conceding one.
