Currently in his second stint in the dugout with the Saint Joseph's baseball program, Greg Manco returns to his role as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2020 season.
Also a professor in the Department of Mathematics at SJU, Manco previously served as an assistant coach with the Hawks for eight seasons before returning to the program as its Director of Baseball Operations before the 2016 season.
Manco’s first stint with the Hawks lasted from 2005 until 2012, making him one of the longest-tenured assistants in program history. A 1992 graduate of Rutgers, Manco also spent six seasons as an assistant at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia prior to coming to Hawk Hill. During his time at USP, he was instrumental in the formation of the Bill Giles Invitational Tournament hosted by the Philadelphia Phillies.
Manco pitched for the varsity baseball squad at Rutgers in 1991 after playing two seasons on the JV team. In addition to his undergraduate work at Rutgers, he also has a master's degree and a doctorate in statistics from RU.
A native of Marlton, New Jersey, Manco helped guide the Hawks to the first Atlantic 10 Championship appearance in program history in 2012. Since then, he has served as an associate scout for the Colorado Rockies and founded the South Jersey Giants of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, a collegiate summer league that is sponsored in part by Major League Baseball. In the Giants' four years in the ACBL (2014-17), they posted a .601 winning percentage while reaching the playoffs each season.
