Scott Boches returns for his second season on the Hawks’ coaching staff in 2027. Boches will serve as the Hawks’ pitching coach.
In his first season on Hawk Hill, Boches guided the Hawk pitching staff to an outstanding season culminating in the program's second Atlantic 10 regular season title in four years, a program-record 36 wins, and a new Atlantic 10 record 25 conference victories. Along the way, the pitching staff set a new single-season strikeout record, fanning 549 batters, while Cole Fehrman was named to the All-Conference First Team and Andrew Gaines was tabbed for the Second Team. Gaines, Christian Coppola, and Duke McCarron all heard their names called in the MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers, Philadelphia Phillies, and Miami Marlins, respectively, while Fehrman later signed with the Texas Rangers organization.
Boches (pronounced BO-chiz) came to Hawk Hill from Lafayette, where he served as the Leopards’ pitching coach for three seasons. During his time in the dugout, pitchers Alex Walsh (First Team) and Joe Skapinetz (Second Team) earned All-Patriot League honors in 2023 and 2025, respectively, while the Leopards reached the Patriot League Tournament in 2023. Skapinetz and former Leopard pitcher Adam Bogosian are currently pitching professionally in the Pioneer League.
Prior to his stint in Easton, Boches spent six years with the Mariners organization, posting a 3.95 earned run average and recording 9.2 strikeouts-per-nine innings across 214.1 professional innings and reaching as high as Triple-A in 2019.
Boches pitched collegiately at Marist, turning in a 6-5 record and a 2.72 earned run average to go with 85 strikeouts in 86 innings in 2017 as he helped lead the Red Foxes to the MAAC tournament title. He held Iona to one run across eight and two-thirds innings, striking out 10, in the championship game on the way to All-Tournament honors. He was also named a semifinalist for the Gregg Olson Award, which honors the “breakout player of the year” in college baseball, before being drafted by the Mariners in the 30th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
“Scott’s playing and coaching experience has afforded him the opportunity to learn and incorporate analytics into his game while still understanding the importance of competing and experiencing success,” head coach Fritz Hamburg said. “He appreciates hard work and respects his craft. A graduate of Archbishop Wood, Boches originally hails from Feasterville, Pa.
