United States National Team member and former Maryland standout Alyssa Parker has joined the Saint Joseph’s field hockey coaching staff ahead of the spring 2021 season.

“Alyssa is a ’10’ and we couldn't ask for a better person and coach to join our Hawk hockey culture!” head coach Lynn Farquhar said upon Parker's appointment.  “She's been instrumental from day one, a natural coach, and I'm thoroughly excited to continue working with her.”

“I am so excited to be joining the staff at SJU,” Parker said upon her arrival.  “Lynn is a phenomenal coach and I look forward to coaching alongside her and learning as much as I can from her.  The athletes on this team embody what it means to work hard and love the sport and I feel very fortunate to be part of their hockey journey.”

Parker has made 46 appearances with the National Team, making her debut in 2017 at the Hawke's Bay Cup in New Zealand, where she helped the United States to a fourth-place finish.  She would go on to compete in series against Belgium, Canada, Chile, and the Netherlands, as well as last year's Olympic qualifying matches in India.  Prior to her Senior National Team experience, Parker was part of the USWNT’s U-19 and U-21 programs.

A 2016 graduate of Maryland, Parker earned a pair of NFHCA All-Region Second Team accolades with the Terrapins and was a member of two teams that reached the NCAA Final Four.  She was also a member of both an ACC and a Big Ten champion, as Maryland changed conference during her time on campus.  As a junior, Parker earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
