Thomas Boyle was recently elevated to associate head coach, after serving as assistant coach for the Hawks the previous three season.
Capping his eighth season with the Hawks, Boyle served as as Director of Basketball Operations for two years before being elevated to assistant coach. Boyle’s responsibilities focused on using video and data for game preparation, statistical analysis, and research projects. He also coordinates the Graduate Manager Program, crafts the agendas for coaches meetings and communicates with the team on the daily schedule. His in game duties center on substitution patterns, fouls, and timeouts.
Boyle has a storied journey with the Hawks. He is the grandson of former SJU coaches Jim Lynam and the late Jim Boyle. He was a student manager under Coach Phil Martelli along with serving the program as a graduate assistant and video coordinator. He was the program’s Director of Basketball Operations before his promotion in March of 2019 to his current role.
In addition to his bachelor’s degree in 2015, Boyle also completed his MBA on Hawk Hill in 2018.
