Men's Basketball in NIT Season Tip-Off; Full Schedule Set

Saint Joseph's has finalized its 2014-15 men's basketball schedule, which is highlighted by participation in the 2014 NIT Season Tip-Off. In the 10-team NIT, the Hawks will travel to Gonzaga, host LIU Brooklyn and play Western Kentucky on Thanksgiving at Madison Square Garden.

2014-15 SJU Schedule

The Hawks will have a minimum of 17 games televised this season, while their total of 12 televised Atlantic 10 contests is the fourth most in the conference. The complete television schedule with game times will be released in the coming weeks.

SJU will face Gonzaga for the first time since 2007 when the Jesuit rivals meet on November 19 in Spokane, Wash., with the game televised nationally on ESPNU.

NIT Schedule

SJU will host LIU Brooklyn at Hagan Arena on November 25 and conclude play in the NIT against Western Kentucky in a Thanksgiving doubleheader on November 27 at Madison Square Garden with the broadcast on ESPNU at 6 p.m. LIU Brooklyn and Stony Brook will face off in the first game at 4 p.m. It marks the second consecutive year that the Hawks will be play on Thanksgiving night as last season, SJU faced LSU on the holiday in the ESPN Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Fla.

Saint Joseph's and Gonzaga played five times from 2001 through 2007, with the Zags winning three games. The last meeting on November 29, 2007 at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse was a 70-65 overtime win by Gonzaga. The Hawks began their memorable 2003-04 season with a 73-66 win over Gonzaga in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Madison Square Garden.

Saint Joseph's will open the 2014-15 season and raise the Atlantic 10 Championship banner on November 14 by hosting Fairleigh Dickinson at Hagan Arena. The Hawks visit local rival Drexel on November 17 and will host non-conference games Vermont on November 22, Big 5 rival Temple on December 3, and Loyola-Md. on December 9.

Saint Joseph's goes on the road to face Big 5 foe Villanova on December 6 and travels to Marist on December 20 and to Denver on December 29.

The Hawks open defense of their A-10 crown against George Washington on January 3 at Hagan Arena, with the telecast on CBSSN. The Hawks will go on the road for a pair of games, at Duquesne on January 7 and at VCU on January 10 for a CBSSN broadcast. The Hawks host Fordham on January 14 and visit St. Bonaventure on January 18 for a Sunday afternoon telecast on NBCSN.

SJU plays its annual Big 5 game against Penn at The Palestra on January 24.  The Hawks visit local rival La Salle on January 27 in the Big 5 matchup, with the telecast on the A-10 Network, before hosting new conference member Davidson on January 31 for an NBCSN contest.

SJU goes on the road to Saint Louis on February 3 for a CBSSN broadcast and then returns home for a pair of games, hosting George Mason on February 7 and Rhode Island on February 11.

The Hawks begin a stretch of six consecutive televised games on February 15 at Fordham, with the telecast on NBCSN. SJU then travels to Dayton on February 19 for a nationally-televised game on ESPNU. SJU will host St. Bonaventure on February 21, visit Massachusetts on February 25 and return home to face Richmond on February 28, with all three of those games seen regionally on the A-10 Network. Saint Joseph's closes out that stretch by hosting La Salle in the home finale on March 4 with a national broadcast on CBSSN. The Hawks will close out the regular season on the road, traveling to Rhode Island on March 7.

All 14 league members will advance to the 2015 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.  The two Opening-Round games on Wednesday, March 11, will air on SNY. All of the Second-Round games (March 12) and Quarterfinal games (March 13) will be broadcast on NBCSN, while the semifinals will take place on March 14 and air on CBSSN. The championship game is set for NCAA Selection Sunday, March 15, with the broadcast on CBS Sports.
