Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - A late goal off the foot of Hawk's sophomore Ali Wean proved to be the difference Friday evening, as Saint Joseph's women's soccer team downed Fordhamn 2-1 under the lights of Finnesey Field.

With the score tied at one apiece with just under 10 minutes remaining, Wean took an arrant Fordham pass and launched a low shot from 20 yards out that slipped under the gloves of Fordham goalkeeper and into the net to give the Hawks a 2-1 lead at 80:33.

The Hawks kept control of the ball for the remainder of the game, holding the ball in Fordham's corner for most of the final two minutes.

Fordham got on the bored first after a scoreless first half. Corey Dunfey controlled a miss-played Saint Joseph's ball and slipped it into the back of the net from 15 yards out at 50:05.

Hawks' senior Ginette Buffone tied the score at 63:39, scoring on a direct kick from 20 yards out.

For the game, both squads were even with 13 shots, with the difference coming in net as Hawks' freshman goalkeeper Jen Kuhn made seven saves on eight shots to earn the victory.

With the win, Saint Joseph's improves to 5-9-0 overall and 3-3-0 in Atlantic 10 play. Fordham falls to 7-3-2 overall and 2-3-1 in conference play with the loss.

The Hawks return to action this Sunday when they host La Salle at 3 p.m.
