Sept. 11, 2004

BALTIMORE, MD - The Saint Joseph's University women's soccer team fell to Loyola 7-0 Saturday afternoon at Curley Field.

The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute and never looked back. Courtney Arikian took a pass off a direct kick from teammate Ashley Kramer and beat Hawks' freshman goalkeeper Jen Kuhn.

Loyola added their second goal of the game in the 17th minute as Kaitlin Klar redirected a rebound off a corner kick into the back of the net. Naomi Daniels netted home a direct kick to give Loyola a 3-0 lead heading into the half.

The Greyhounds jumped out to a 5-0 lead just over three minutes into the second stanza. Ellen Sroka opened the scoring at 45:37 and Daniels tallied her second goal of the game at 48:23.

Carolyn Kennington and Brittany Marano added the final two goals for Loyola as the Greyhounds outshoot SJU 22-4.

Hawks' sophomore Ali Wean accounted for two shots, while classmates Nancy Cook and Megan Schutt each added one apiece.

Kuhn was the hard-luck loser despite making seven saves. Loyola's Erica Niemann made one save for the shutout.

With the loss, the Hawks fall to 1-4 on the season, while Loyola improves to 3-2.

SJU returns to action this Wednesday, September 15, when it hosts Towson at 7 p.m. at Finnesey Field.
