VELAZQUEZ TIES BARNETT FOR CAREER WIN RECORD IN 6-0 WIN OVER MSM

SWARTMORE, PA (2/15/04) -- Junior Francisco Velazquez tied Frank Barnett '71 for the program record for career wins as SJU improved to 2-1 on the season with a 6-0 shutout win over Mount St. Mary's. Velazquez had a 6-3, 6-1 win over Drew Arbeiter at first singles for the 46th win of his career. Sophomore Jimmy Holland was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at #2 singles, while junior Van Homer Pangilinan took home a 6-2, 4-6, (10-4) win at #3. Sophomore Chris Spencer followed with a straight set blanking (6-0, 6-0) at #4 and classmate A.J. Garabedian won 6-1, 6-3 at #5 singles. Sophomore Antonio Aniello wrapped up the shutout with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at #6. The match was played at Swarthmore College and doubles was not contested.
