PRINCETON, N.J. –
Ernesto Ruy teamed up with
Othman Bezzaz for a doubles win on Saturday morning before earning a big one on his own later in the day at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships at Princeton University.
Bezzaz and Ruy moved into the third round of the doubles draw with an 8-6 win over Andrew Ena and Aditya Govila of Columbia. The Hawk pair will meet a duo from Penn on Sunday morning for a spot in the quarterfinals, which will be contested later on Sunday.
Ruy was in singles action later against 16th-seeded Aleksandar Mitric of the host Tigers; after dropping the first set at love, Ruy stormed back to take the second in a tiebreaker before breaking Mitric's serve to win the third set and move on to the Round of 16, where he will face seventh-seeded Sachin Palta from Columbia on Sunday afternoon.
