JAMEER NELSON EARNS SECOND A-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

PHILADELPHIA (12/15/02) - Saint Joseph's University junior guard Jameer Nelson was named Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week for the week ending December 14. It is the second time that the Hawk point guard has earned the honor this season and third time in his career. In SJU's only game this week. Nelson tallied 24 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished seven assists to lead the Hawks to a 77-59 win over visiting Delaware on December 9. The win upped the Hawks' record to 6-0, the best start by a SJU team since the 1980-81 squad also opened with six straight wins. Nelson was 9-of-17 from the field, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. It was also the fourth time in six games that he tallied 20-or-more points this season, He is third in the Atlantic 10 with an 18.8 ppg average, while his 5.0 assists per game ranks fourth.
