Nelson is the leader for the #2 Hawks which finished the regular season with a perfect 27-0 record. The 5-11 point guard averages 20.0 points for Saint Joseph's, which is in the midst of its finest season ever.
Nelson played his final home game last Tuesday at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. Following the game, Hawks coach Phil Martelli stated that no one would ever wear number 14 again. Nelson deferred the retiring of his number until the post-season banquet on April 23, saying "I have more games to play."
Nelson and the Hawks begin their quest for the Atlantic 10 Tournament title on Thursday, March 12, in the conference championships at Dayton.
