JERSEY CITY, NJ (2/12/02) -- The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team upset St. Peter's during Monday afternoon's match held in Jersey City. #1 seed freshman Francisco Velazquez defeated St. Peter's foe Alex Tavneary 6-4, 6-3. Wins also came from #3 and #4 seeds Van Homer Pangilinan 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 and Mark Spyrzynski 6-4, 6-2. In doubles action, Velazquez and Pangilinan teamed up to win 8-3, while Mike Marano and Gary Wynek upset St. Peter's opponents 8-3. The Hawks will compete Saturday, February 16th when they travel to neighboring Penn to take on the Quakers.
