PHILADELPHIA (05/20/03) - Robert Ferguson, a 6-8 power forward from Mariner High School in Cape Coral, Fla.., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play men's basketball for Saint Joseph's University. Ferguson rounds out this year's Hawk recruiting class that includes 6-9 forward Arvydas Lidzius (Lithuania/Montrose Christian (Md.)) and 7-0 center Artur Surov (Helsinki, Finland/Memorial School (Ga.)).
Ferguson, a first team all-state selection and Class 5A Player of the Year , averaged 25 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocked shots in leading Mariner High to a 28-2 record and a berth in the regional final this past season. Mariner, a perennial state power, was ranked #1 in the state for most of the season.
