2002 WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM HONORED AT BANQUET

PHILADELPHIA (11/13/02) - Senior goalkeeper Christy Ganc took home team MVP honors last night at the annual Saint Joseph's Women's Soccer team banquet at the GSB Building. Ganc, who compiled 103 saves and tossed three shutouts, also earned defensive Co-MVP honors to complement her team MVP award. The Hockessin, Del. native ranks second all-time on Hawk Hill in career saves (245) and is third in career shutouts (six.) Katie Watson, honored earlier in the week by being named to the Atlantic 10 Second Team, earned Offensive MVP honors for the second straight year. The senior ranks third on the all-time goals (14) and points (33) lists at SJU and led the team in all offensive categories in 2002. Junior Anna Marini share Defensive MVP honors with Ganc after starting all but one game in the backfield for the Hawks. She also assisted on one goal this season. Senior co-captain Kellie Woolcock earned the Players' Player award, while sophomore Cristin Harris was tabbed as the team's Most Improved Player. Woolcock started 54 consecutive games at back and midfield during her career, while Harris saw action in 11 games at forward this fall. Freshman Jess Daugherty garnered the team's Rookie of the Year award after anchoring a young defense in front of Ganc. Daugherty assisted on Jodi Young's game winner at Drexel in September.
