The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team gave up two first-half goals and never recovered as the Hawks fell 3-1 at East Carolina Sunday.
The Pirates jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead as Jamie Dickerson opened the scoring ant 23:58 and Madison Keller scored the eventual game winner at 38:46.
East Carolina added to their lead in the 64th minute as Dickerson added her second goal of the contest, connecting off a corner kick from teammate Allison Howell.
Junior defender Kaiti McCaffery added Saint Joseph's lone goal in the 67th minutes, converting off a pass from classmate Ali Wean.
Unfortunately for the Hawks, East Carolina's defense failed to yield, as the Pirates held on for the win.
For the game, East Carolina out shot the Hawks 17-8 and held a 4-0 edge on corner kicks.
With the loss, Saint Joseph's falls to 4-5-1 overall, while the Pirates improve to 4-6-0.
The Hawks return to action at Dayton on Friday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
