Saint Joseph's sophomore Abdulai Jalloh has been named The Hawk Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, January 1. Also named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week, Jalloh led the Hawks during last week's West Coast trip, in which SJU went 1-1. He averaged 24.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists, while shooting 52.3 percent (11-for-21) from the field, 58.3 percent (7-for-12) from 3-point range and 95 percent (19-for-20).
The 6-1 guard from District Heights, MD, led Saint Joseph's with 21 points in a 70-66 win at Saint Mary's. He made 5-of-9 shots from the field and hit 9-of-10 free throws in the win. In the Hawks' 102-94 loss at eighth-ranked Gonzaga, Jalloh posted a team-high 27 points. He made five of the Hawks' 15 3-point field goals, as SJU set a new McCarthey Athletic Pavilion record. Jalloh also went 10-for-10 from the foul line and handed out a career-high seven assists.
Jalloh currently leads the Hawks in scoring with 16.8 points per game and is tied as the team's top rebounder with an average of 5.2.
