After being postponed a day and forced to play on the campus of Loyola College due to torrential rain, the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team fell to Towson 3-2 Saturday evening.
The Tiger's Marissa Gross opened the scoring in the 30th minute as she took a pass from teammate Erica Marshall and beat the Hawks' junior goalkeeper Jen Kuhn to the left side.
Saint Joseph's tied the score just before the half as freshman Sarah O'Malley tallied her first collegiate goal off a direct kick.
Marshall would put Towson up for good early in the second half, scoring at 50:16 and 58:46.
The Hawks would come within one, 3-2, with a goal by senior Nancy Cook off a pass from sophomore Ashley Bugnar at 84:47, but SJU would not be able to muster another scoring chance as the Tigers held on for the win.
For the game, Towson out shot the Hawks 20-8 and held a 4-3 edge in corners.
Individually, Kuhn made a game-high 10 saves in the loss, while Brandi Daniels made four saves for the win.
With the loss, the Hawks fall to 2-5-0 on the season, while Towson improves to 3-2-1.
The Hawks return to Wednesday, September 20 when they host Rider at 7 p.m.
