PHILADELPHIA - Close to 2,000 Hawk enthusiastic fans helped ring in the new basketball season on Friday night as Saint Joseph's held its annual Midnight Madness.

The evening began with hundreds of people joining the basketball teams in the "Walk with the Hawks". SJU was one of three schools in the country to be selected to participate in this new Coaches vs. Cancer activity, designed to raise awareness and funds for the cause. The coaches and teams joined with fans, families and friends in a walk around campus before entering Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse for the basketball event.

Both the men's and women's teams were introduced for the first time, while players participated with students in various basketball contests.

In basketball action, both the men's and women's squads held Crimson-Gray scrimmages.
