PHILADELPHIA - Duquesne shut out Saint Joseph's, 2-0, in Atlantic 10 women's soccer action at Finnesey Field today. It was the Dukes' third straight win and sixth in the last seven games, improving them to 10-5 (7-2 Atlantic 10). The Hawks dropped to 3-12 (1-6).

Duquesne scored early as Faye Rasmussen controlled the ball and held it before unleashing a shot from the top of the box that went into the right side of the net at 18:43.

The Dukes scored again early in the second half when Audra Matthews sent a corner kick into the crowded box. After a scuffle for the ball it was deflected, but Shaina Geisler slipped it in from close range at 51:34.

The Hawks had a few opportunities with three shots around the 60-minute mark, but DU's Brittany Findley came up with saves on all three.

The visitors outshot the Hawks, 18-6, and held an 8-5 edge in corner kicks. SJU goalkeeper Megan Bastianelli made six saves on the day while Findley had four in the shutout.

The Hawks go on the road for an A-10 weekend playing at Richmond on October 26 and at George Washington on October 28.
