C.J. Brown Earns Spot on Men's Basketball Team

Oct. 24, 2007

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore C.J. Brown has earned a spot on the Saint Joseph's men's basketball team as a walk-on, it was announced by head coach Phil Martelli. Brown was named to the team after going through a series of tryouts and practices.

A 5-11 guard from Newark, DE, Brown was an All-State Third Team selection while at Caravel Academy. As a senior, he helped his team compile a 20-2 regular-season record and reach the state title game. During his career at Caravel the team reached the state finals twice and compiled a 73-15 record over the four years.

Last year he was one of six men who served as practice players with the Hawks' women's basketball team.

Brown, a biology major, is the only non-scholarship player on the Hawks' 2007-08 squad.
