PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Tim Clifford and Alex Vander Baan scored 16 points each to lead Holy Cross past Saint Joseph's 71-66 on Tuesday night.

Kyle Cruze added 13 points and Andrew Beinert had 10 for the Crusaders (7-1), who won for the first time in four career meetings against the Hawks.

Pat Calathes scored all 19 of his points in the second half while Tasheed Carr added a career-high 17 and Darrin Govens had 12 for Saint Joseph's (4-3).

Holy Cross built an early 18-point lead and withstood a furious rally by the Hawks, who got within 66-61 with 2:03 remaining. But Saint Joseph's missed five straight shots - two 3-pointers and three field goals - and the Crusaders hit four consecutive free throws for a commanding 70-61 advantage.

The Hawks didn't record their first field goal until Carr hit a 3-pointer with 5:01 left in the first half. During the 14:59 drought, the Hawks missed their first 11 shots and turned the ball over seven times.

Saint Joseph's shot just 3-for-16 in the half and didn't manage one conventional field goal. The Hawks were 3-for-8 on 3-pointers and 12-of-15 from the free throw line as they fell behind 34-21 at halftime.
