PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's men's tennis was unable to complete Tuesday's matchup against UMBC due to poor visibility. The overall score was tied at three with the #6 singles match underway, but it became too dark on Finnesey Courts to properly see the ball and they were forced to discontinue play.

Jarrett and Chris Chirico teamed up for SJU's only doubles win of the day, playing in the #1 spot. The Chirico brothers defeated Fredi Voorman and Nick Savage-Pollock, a duo that was ranked #85 nationally on collegetennis.com coming into the match.

Despite losing the doubles point, the Hawks came out strong in the singles competitions, winning three of the five completed matches. The Retrievers did not go quietly however and four of the five matched went into extra sets.

Jarrett Chirico won in the first singles slot 6-3, 6-2 and Chris Chirico pulled out a win in the #4 spot, going 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. Pat Admas also added a win to the Hawks' tally. Phil Bayliss and Matt Glasgow in the two and three positions,went down fighting. Bayliss lost the first set 6-3, but then battled back to win the second 3-6, sending the match to a third set in which Bayliss lost 6-3. Glasgow won his first set but David Jackson of UMBC clawed his way back into the match, winning the second set 7-6 and going on to win the match.

Lucho Perez-Abreu was down to Fernando Ferreira 5-3 in the first set of the #6 singles match up when it got too dark to see the ball and they were forced suspend play.

The Hawks prepare to take on Temple when they return to action Thursday, March 29th across town. Match time is set for 2:00 pm.
