CINCINNATI - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team dropped its Atlantic 10 match at Xavier Sunday afternoon, 5-0. Sophomore Megan Bastianelli made a game-high nine saves on the day for the Hawks.

The Musketeers opened the scoring in the 35th minute as Lizzy Gerard scored off a pass from Carlyanne Wenzel, beating Bastianelli at 34:38.

Xavier held a 1-0 edge into the second half, but extended its lead to 2-0 at 46:31 as Melissa Zimmerman scored the first of her two goals.

Zimmerman put XU up 3-0 in the 63rd minutes, while Maggie O'Neal added a pair of goals 23-second apart to cap Xavier's win.

For Saint Joseph's Bastianelli made nine saves, while junior Allie Dowling and senior Shannon Osborn each recorded three shots apiece.

With the loss the Hawks fall to 2-8 on the year an 0-2 in the a-10. Xavier improves to 3-8 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

The Hawks return to action Friday when they host Charlotte.
